Two little angels

These are two little angels who have come into my life. Today I got to spend some time with them and as I had my camera with me, I thought it would be great to capture some moments. Meet Zoey and Cleo...

Sun, Sea and a Lighthouse

It's always great fun when I do a shoot for friends, but this one was even more special as it was for Candice. Now let me tell you about Candice and I. We became friends in standard 4 (grade 6) I can't remember that moment when we became friends but I remember her colour pens lol. I love stationery and colour pens are the way to my heart. Our friendship led from the use of her colour pens to sleep overs, lots and lots of sleep overs. Then high school began and we went our separate ways. We did not see each other that often, but our love for writing led to a large some of letters back and forth. We shared our lives in those letters. Okay so I can go on forever, but the point I am making is that our friendship is one of those magical ones. The one where you do not need to always see each other but you find a way of staying in contact and you never lose that connection. Candice this blog is for you (and Bradley). Trust that the pictures make you both happy, happier than it made me while taking and editing them.

Chantal and her girls

A few months ago I ran a competition on my facebook page, sugar and spice photography - nicole. The person who got the most people to 'like' the page and referrals would win a studio photoshoot. For the month of the competition Chantal must have driven her friends crazy by asking them to 'like' my page and say that she referred them. All that work paid off and led to a great shoot.

Enjoy!

Party Ideas for Kids| Nicole: PRINCESS PARTY

I have been booked to capture the fun-filled moments of little Lirah's princess party on the 19 November. This got me thinking of what her mom must be going through leading up to her party. I use to run a kids' party planning company and know the stress that comes with wanting to make your little angel's birthday the best ever (not forgetting that every year needs to be better than the year before).

I have therefore decided to dedicate this blog to 'planning a princess party' - the blog is designed to be DIY, any mom, no matter your budget or time, can use some or all of the elements. Remember at the end of the day the most important element is that your little princess knows how important she is.
  • Decide on the colour scheme. Below are dreamy colours I would use.
  • Invitation: All royal parties start with the invitation. Add the party details to the wand and hand  deliver them to the guests. Click here for the tutorial to assist in making the wand and tiara.

  • Decor: There are so many ideas for princess party decor. Below are my favourites.
  1. Dress up a wire body model with a princess dress or print off images from the internet and place them on the table.
  2. Cut out a star or tiara (or image of your choice) and use cake flour to add the image to the walkway.
  • Snacks: Have figurines of the princess dresses made as lollipops, sandwiches cut out as tiaras, cupcakes placed in a princess holder or a cupcake stand dressed with tulle.
  • Games: To keep the guests entertained, let them play Princess and the frog (pin the bow-tie on the frog) or get them to make beaded princess bracelets. Both of these activities can keep them busy for some time.

  • Party pack: Get any form of a bag and dress it with tulle for a princess bag.

Remember there is no perfect formula for any party, but there is a vast amount of resources available. I trust that you have enjoyed this blog entry.

Winners of the location couple shoot: Angus and Tamsyn

This past weekend I had the pleasure of meeting Tamsyn and Angus, winners of the couple location shoot. With camera in hand, I set out to go meet them at the Southern Light Country House in Constantia. They were tucked away for a weekend getaway, but made time for the shoot (thanks again you two).

The Southern Light Country House was a beautiful back-drop for this shoot...see for yourself.
